Cruise along the peaceful Danube River through Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary—stopping at some of Central Europe’s most splendid capitals and charming towns along the way. Visit Passau, Germany—called the “City of Three Rivers” at the confluence of the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers. Take a guided walking tour to admire the Patrician houses and baroque St. Stephen’s Cathedral. In Linz, Austria, walk around the Hauptplatz, Austria’s largest medieval square. Enjoy the magnificent views as your Danube River cruise takes you through the picturesque wine region of the Wachau Valley. Stops include Melk to visit the magnificent Benedictine Abbey and Dürnstein to see the famous blue and white Stiftskirche and taste some of the local wines. Vienna, the “City of Music,” makes an immediate impression with its lavish Hofburg Imperial Palace and neo-renaissance Vienna Opera House. Enjoy a guided tour of this magical city and take time to explore on your own. In Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, take a guided walk through the delightful Old Town and to the Gothic St. Martin’s Cathedral. In Budapest, the vibrant capital of Hungary, a local expert shows you all the must-see sights. Then to round out this timeless European river cruise, take a stroll along Váci utca—the main shopping street, or take pictures from Fishermen’s Bastion for the best panoramic views of Budapest.   1. Day 1. WELCOME ABOARD!  


    Make your way to Deggendorf, board the beautiful Impression where our journey will begin. Join Jim Cuddy, Anne Lindsay, Devin Cuddy, and Sam Polley at a meet and greet as we set sail to Passau.


Day 2. PASSAU-SCHLÖGEN OXBOW


Enjoy a fantastic day in the city of Passau - a university town - is also known as the Dreiflüssestadt ("City of Three Rivers") as it is where the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers meet. After your guided tour, take a little free time to explore Passau’s cobblestone streets and galleries of Artists’ Alley. If you wish, stop in to St. Stephen’s Cathedral to catch a concert rehearsal. This afternoon, cruise to Linz through the Danube’s dramatic horseshoe bend called Schlögen Oxbow. Tonight, take in an intimate concert on board, headlined by Jim Cuddy. Hear old favourites and songs from his newest album Countrywide Soul .



Day 3. LINZ, AUSTRIA


Today consider a full-day Guided Optional Excursion to Salzburg — the city of Mozart  or to the picturesque Bohemian town of Český Krumlov. Otherwise spend the afternoon on a biking picnic along the banks of the Danube or hike through Linz’s beautiful nature trails to Pöstlingberg for a bird’s-eye view of the city and river below.

Day 4. MELK–WACHAU VALLEY


This morning, you can take in a guided tour of the magnificent Benedictine Abbey in Melk or enjoy the flavors of Wachu Valley wines during an on-board tasting. Relax on the Avalon Impression as we set sail to to Dürnstein.

DÜRNSTEIN

Look up, waaaaay up, to see the medieval Dürnstein castle, where Richard the Lionheart (King Richard I of England) was held captive during the Third Crusade in 1192. You can explore the castle by taking a guided walk / hike up from the village. Tonight we sail to Vienna.





Day 5. VIENNA

Welcome to Vienna! This morning you will take a guided tour to start off a day that you will never forget. Take in an optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace and find out about the origins of the famous "Schönbrunn Yellow." This afternoon enjoy free time: take a tram to Prater amusement park or a local museum; borrow a bike and explore the streets and squares of Vienna; or, ride along the banks of the Danube. We'll have a little surprise today, don't miss out. 



 

Day 6. HAINBURG, AUSTRIA

Wake up in magical HainburgEnjoy some free time in the village of Hainburg or take an Optional Guided Excursion to discover the natural beauties of this area. Over the lunch hour, enjoy a short cruise to Bratislava; we'll enjoy the rest of the day in this beautiful city. Tonight as we sail to Budapest and will be entertained with our final live concert on-board, hosted by Jim Cuddy.

Day 7. BUDAPEST, HUNGARY

Welcome to Budapest! This morning you will enjoy a Guided City Sightseeing Tour, including the iconic Heroes’ Square, and will then enjoy the rest of the day is at leisure. Tonight we are back on board for our farewell reception when a few lucky guests will get to join Jim, Anne, Devin, and Sam for dinner in support of Prince Edward Island's Stars for Life Foundation for Autism.
